Description
Gini is made from Nai Miris or Cobra/Snake Bite Chili and is well-regarded as the king of chilis in Sri Lanka not simply because of its heat, but also its flavour. While most Nai Miris sauces hinge primarily on being the hottest, Gini is based on accentuating the scorch with the nuances of tamarind, lime, garlic and more, bringing in a balance of sweetness so that while it might make you cry/sweat just a bit, you are also most certainly going to want more.
Gini is our second product and a manifestation of our desire to build a Kimbula Kitchen of Sri Lankan grown, smallholder farmed, forest-garden or multi-crop harvested products in better equilibrium with our natural surroundings. It allows us to expand our mission of farmer equity as we can buy what would otherwise go as surplus from farmers, and give them support for growth.
Feel the island heat & spice with Gini.

If you are looking for the perfect hot sauce, you don’t have to look any further; there can’t be a better hot sauce than “Gini”. Gini, is made from nai miris (cobra chili), a well-known chili in Sri Lanka. Not only is this chili hot but it’s full of flavor. And the same can be said about this sauce; it’s hot and fiery but it is also slightly sweet and tangy. “Gini” means fire, in Sinhalese. And I couldn’t think of a more apt name for this sauce because this is certainly not for the faint of heart. Having said that, if you are smart about what you pair it with, I think it’s something that can be enjoyed by all! I love having it with samosas, Sri Lankan cutlets or sometimes even with just a piece of cheese. Apart from that, if you want to add a little heat to your cooking, trying adding a small amount of Gini; it does wonders! Definitely recommend this sauce from the magical island of Sri Lanka.
